Public Communication:

Jason Stymacks with Stymacks Tree Service walked the Hoodsport Trail Park to assess damage to the bridge and some of the trails by fallen mature Alder trees that were at the end of their life and were toppled by wind and weather. It was suggested the more dangerous trees that could threaten public safety be removed. The Port Commission will evaluate the information and decide whether or not to remove others that may pose a threat to the Public or property.

Commissioner Reports:

Commissioner Brazil conveyed public comments about the Public Restrooms and how they thought they were, ‘the cleanest public restrooms they have ever used’. It was suggested the Port put Christmas lights around the railing by the Marina Park next year. As a side note, the local Food Bank collected the Christmas gifts gathered for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony and distributed them to kids through the Food Bank.

Port Maintenance Reports:

Discussed using another supplier for the ongoing public restroom supplies, the new Vendors pricing is considerably less than the current Vendor. Discussed talking to the plant supplier in regards to the flower baskets that will be ordered for Spring. The flower baskets will be placed on Port property ONLY as the watering and cost for the entire town would be substantial.

Port Operations Manager Report:

The County Auditor has changed their system to process Vouchers and issue warrant checks. This was explained in detail and it was determined the Port of Hoodsport will continue processing Vouchers as in the past in order to track line items with the budget. The new system will be in addition to the current method of processing. Money was automatically swept from the Ports account in order to cover annual election costs; it was determined to include these annual costs in to the budget for 2015. The Commissioners elected official information was verified and updated with the Public Disclosure Commission. The accountant is working on W9 and 1099 forms for the Port Commissioners and contracted employees. The application for the ‘Clean Marina’ designation will be completed and submitted. It will be determined as to whether the Port will have a Public meeting with a spaghetti dinner or hold the meeting at the library.
