Don LeMaster explained to those present that further discussions regarding stakeholders and verification of identification and strategic planning would be the topics discussed at the Retreat. Administrative Assistant, Terry Veitz, presented Don LeMaster with a draft binder for use at the Retreat. Don will look it over and let Terry know if there are any changes necessary so she can complete all 12 binders. The Executive Director, Rich McEachin, mentioned that he sent out a letter to the Board of Lake Cushman, Lilliwaup Community Club and Minerva Beach, asking for them to appoint representatives to the EAB. Terry Brazil was appointed as the representative for Lake Cushman.
There was discussion as to why more people aren’t coming to the EAB meetings. It was brought up that all members had been emailed and were called on the phone about the meeting. It was also mentioned that during the summer many people are busy or out of town. It was mentioned that the EAB should add a discussion to the Retreat agenda that would address the meetings/times, etc. Possibly, the summer month meeting times need to be changed?
Old Business:
Dick Patterson mentioned that he had been asked by a few people about the Port purchasing some property and asked for information in that regard. Commissioner Benavente offered that the Port had been in negotiations with Don LeMaster to purchase the building the Port resides in and the car wash. The Port has made an offer and it has been accepted, subject to an appraisal, survey and other issues still outstanding. Commissioner Benavente further stated that the acquisition, if finalized, would help the Port realize income and possibly help with future economic development.
Executive Director McEachin reported that the Hoodsport Trail Park issue is almost complete. This is 80 acres of land that is being given to the Port by the Federal Govt.
Ed Binder reported that the Skokomish continue working on the Waste Water Treatment Plant project. It is in the design phase at this time. They hope to be able to facilitate all commercial and residential areas. The Marina Feasibility Study is continuing, but there are concerns as to its viability.
